J-SMASH

Uhone Luvhengo, popularly known as 'J-Smash' in the music industry, is a 19-year-old DJ/Producer from Makhado/Louis Trichardt, Limpopo in South Africa. His inspiration came from Dj Khaled as J admired the passion he had and attention to detail that he exudes from a young age. "His ear for great music and supplying that to the people are things I also built my career on" says J-Smash. He also believes that music is everything, and he's very grateful to know that he can now contribute to such a great industry already.

His first major recognition was from Tumi Tladi on "I Dont See You N*g**s" a hit that J-Smash put together featuring WiziBeats, GingerTrill as well as Tumi himself. IDSYN was a single made to address all the people who put him down that he simply does not see them anymore. "How it came about was I dm'd him on Twitter and built a relationship that way. Soon after that I started sending him beats and he liked one of them. I guess as they say, the rest is history". The track got the streets jumping and was the beginning of many great things to follow for J-Smash in the industry. In 2017 he released another single titled "Show Up" featuring Producer/Hook God, Zoocci Coke Dope, A-reece & Flame. He then released the music video, directed by Motion Billy, which made it an all-round smash hit. With the success of Show Up, he released "Ibvani Ndilani" featuring Tweezy, Maraza & Yanga Chief which also featured on his "Rise of a King" EP.

J built a working relationship with Ambitiouz Entertainment through working with their elite artists in Emtee and Kid Tini on "Never Fall" and "You Know" respectively as well as The Wrecking Crew. He is also the current resident mix deejay for SABC radio station in Ligwalagwala FM (Hip Hop Parliament) and Munghana Lunene (Ema Nemba Nembeni Ya HipHop). J-Smash has worked with and produced for various South African musicans which regards him as one of the top Producers in the country. He started off producing for Ghost Gvng earlier on in his career. From then onwards he has executively produced all of his songs, which features artists such as - Emtee, Areece, Yanga Chief, Zoocci Coke Dope, Big Star Johnson, Priddy Ugly & Zingah to name a few.

To J-Smash the most important thing is making the best music he can and impact the world through music. He recently started the J-Smash Foundation which him and his team have big plans for in assisting upcoming artists, young talents as well as the community in general, especially from his native home of Limpopo. Like every other artist, the producer also faces difficulties and setbacks throughout his journey. "I guess the biggest one is making your mark as an independent deejay and producer. Everything is on you and your team to make things happen for your own brand. The more you learn the more effective you become" says J. He has big dreams for himself and believes the difficulties come with the territory.

For a young guy like J from 015 Makhado, it feels very humbling to be where he is, work with the people that he has and accomplishing what he has so far in his music career. "It's an amazing feeling to see how I have grown and worked with so many talented artists so far. I plan to work even harder to collaborate more and give the fans music that they can make a soundtrack to their daily lives".

His advice to young musicans is to make music that resonates to you and people. He believes that there really is no right or wrong way about making your mark in the industry, and that one should just focus on finding their sound and mastering their lane. Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones. "Last but not least, take care of the relationships you build with people. They will take you further than talent alone". As J continues on his musical path and future endeavors, we await to see what the renowned producer has in stall for the industry in 2019.
