PERCY NTSHAYI
Percival, better-known as Perceey.asf is a 17-year-old influencer & skit creator, born on the 10th of December, 2001. He was born and bred by a Swati speaking family in a small city in Mpumalanga called Nelspruit, with his mother and older sister. He relocated to the North of Johannesburg in 2016
Words that can best describe Perceey are, ambitious, funny, persistent , inventive and business-minded. "Growing up, I've always been a funny being and a class clown".
He started his instagram page back in 2015 and later decided to create vines in 2017. He was inspired by a skit creator called Owen Sithole. The initial reason for him downloading instagram was to upload pictures of himself just like any other individual but later saw it as a business opportunity when he started getting recognition from people mostly his age. The video which kept him going was the 'Valentine Prank' which trended not only in South Africa but also hit the international scene in countries such as France, USA, Nigeria and many more.
Making people laugh is one of Percy's hobbies and he later realized that he could make a bit of money from it. He realized that he could use his social media as an opportunity for entrepreneurship. "In today's world as the youth, we have more career opportunities available to us than the youth of 10 years ago and this is mostly due to the influence of social media. As the world has moved to a 4th industrial revolution, the amount of career opportunities that one can have in the technological and media space has immensely become vast" says Percy.
Percy prides himself in being his own brand and draws from inspiration such as Drake, Maps Mopanyane and LaSizwe. His brand represents professionalism, work ethic and high entertainment quality. Percy expresses this, "I spend a lot of time editing my own videos ensuring that I give my audience quality humor which majority of them can relate to".
Percy has worked with big brands such as KOO and KFC. Further more he has worked on various campaigns like the recent SpringBok, MTN rugby world cup campaign. He has recently partnered with BUSANI MEN as an influencer and model, which specialize in affordable, formal apparel. "The BUSANI collaboration has been amongst my favorites as it is a strong local brand and we share the same vision, being the promotion of youth entrepreneurship".
In the next coming years, Percy sees himself as a television personality and presenter. “With the passion that I carry for media, I believe that I’ll excel and make my dreams come true in this field, all in the lords grace. The grind continues”.
