STEERO

Steero started making music at the age of 10 having being influenced by his family's musical background which has played a big part in his love for Hip Hop. "One day I was bored, watching TV and I just started writing some rhymes and I've never stopped since then". Also well known for his Afro, Steero believes it gives him a sense of authenticity and uniqueness which plays a big role in who he is. Steero started getting recognition when legendary motswako rapper Khuli Chana tweeted about Steero being "the future of SA Hip Hop". This led to his first ever interview at the age of 13 and from there it was a snowball effect.

Steero has many accolades that he's achieved including being endorsed by Nike, Jordan & Converse. Steero has also performed on the same stage as Hip Hop heavyweights such as Cassper Nyovest, Riky Rick, Kwesta and Anatii. He's also performed at renowned events such as Umshubhelo Music Fest, Sharpeville Food Festival & Minister of Arts & Culture.

Like any other musicians, Steero also faces certain challenges, personally and from the public. He says his main challenge is having to do better than you did yesterday in a musical perspective, and he believes overcoming that would mean making music regularly and practicing. Steero thinks that the youth is taking a lead in the industry and believes it'll stay that way. "The only thing that's missing is more storytellers. Rappers that tell captivating and inspiring stories through their music that others can relate to" says the young musician.
